Reconnecting to the Past and Advocating for the Future

Recently, one of our earliest graduates reached out to ECS. Amy Humphrey enrolled in ECS during our first year – 1999! She and her daughter, Sidney, completed 56 visits with their home visitor. Amy used the confidence she gained as a parent working with ECS as a springboard for professional growth and achievement and shared with us:

“I am currently the Chief Deputy Auditor for Hamilton County. My oldest daughter is 24-yearsold, and we both participated in Every Child Succeeds when she was born. It gave me so much confidence as a first time, single mother to have that relationship and support to know my daughter was developing at the appropriate level and that even if I wasn’t perfect, I am still a great mom!

I graduated the program and went on to complete my Bachelor’s, obtain my appraisal license, and in 2018 my MPA.  I have worked at the Hamilton County Auditor’s Office for almost 14 years.

Thank you for giving me the confidence to support my family!”

Amy credits ECS with helping her become a mom who positively supported Sidney’s development and nurtured her character as a young adult.

Now almost 25, Sidney is the General Manager of Goodwill in Bellevue, KY, and will soon resume classes at Northern Kentucky University. She is one of the youngest professionals in her leadership position at Goodwill, and Amy is so proud of Sidney’s commitment to self-improvement to make progress for herself and her son.

As we celebrate 25 years of ECS, we are launching an ECS ambassador group. These graduates will champion ECS in the community, be a voice to remind us of the importance of having support during the prenatal to age three period, and connect with currently enrolled families. Amy is already advocating, sharing that “it’s hard to admit when you need help, so having resources like your agency available is essential for moms to reach their full potential.”

We are grateful to Amy for sharing her story, and we are excited to reconnect with more ECS families.

Are you an ECS graduate or currently enrolled mom? Send us an email! We’d love to hear from you!
