StartStrong Toolkit
This toolkit was developed during a multi-year project called StartStrong. It describes the collective effort and process by which the team identified transferrable strategies to deliver more comprehensive, timely care while a woman is pregnant and extending until the baby is six months old. Four partners came together – Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the Faculty Medical Center at Good Samaritan Hospital, the Center for Women’s Health at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and the Every Child Succeeds home visiting program. These efforts focused on two neighborhoods in Cincinnati, Avondale and Price Hill, and resulted in a reduction in extreme preterm birth, a reduction in non-urgent emergency department usage, a significant cost savings, and more. StartStrong was made possible by a grant from Bethesda, Inc., wih support from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Every Child Succeeds, and TriHealth.
